Iain christie

Overview

Iain is a natural communicator, bringing to the mediation process a unique combination of legal, diplomatic and business skills. His calm, relaxed manner helps to put the parties at ease but belies a determination to secure the best possible outcome for all.  He is prepared to go the extra mile to ensure that a settlement is reached if need be. His professional training as a barrister equips him with the necessary authority to command the respect of the parties and control the process. Iain has undertaken over 50 mediations across a variety of sectors, and is particularly adept at understanding the psychology of conflict which often acts as an obstacle to resolution. He is currently undertaking a diploma in Conflict Resolution and Group Facilitation to enhance his mediation skills.

LOCATION

Iain mediates across the South West and in London.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

For ten years Iain was a legal adviser in HM Diplomatic Service in which capacity he regularly negotiated on behalf of the UK at the United Nations and Council of Europe. This high level international experience equips him well for complex and multi-party mediations. His entry into Alternative Dispute Resolution was through Community and Neighbourhood mediation. Since his accreditation in 2004 by Regent’s College School of Psychotherapy and Counselling, he has mediated in a wide variety of Civil and Commercial disputes and has recently added Family mediation to his portfolio, having been accredited by ADR Group in July 2009.  In January 2010 Iain was accredited by Globis Ltd in Workplace mediation. This combination of expertise allows him to deploy the most effective techniques to resolve any impasse and he is able to adapt the process to meet the needs of the parties.
